• Background

  Musetta Davis was born in Manhattan in 2000. Her parents were Adam Davis and his girlfriend Claire Vasquez. Adam's best friend, Lucas Pierce, was named as Musetta's godfather and honorary uncle. She was named after the song Musetta's Waltz, from the opera La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini, and over time, her name was shortened into the nickname Muse, which, ironically enough, was also one of Adam's favorite bands. From a very young age, Muse knew that she one day wanted to be a musician like her father, who played guitar and was an aspiring rock star.
  
  When Muse was just two years old, Claire was diagnosed with breast cancer, and a year later, when her daughter was three, she passed away in the hospital. For the next nine years, Muse lived in a loft apartment with Adam and Lucas. She was very close with Adam, the absolute epitamy of a Daddy's Girl. Her entire world revolved around her father, who would have done anything for his little girl. But it didn't last.
  
  One night, when Muse was twelve years old, Adam had to stay late at the music store where he worked so he could lock up. As he was walking home, a drunk taxi driver ran him down. When Lucas got the call back at the loft, he grabbed his keys and rushed to the hospital with Musetta in tow. When they got there, Adam told his daughter how much she meant to him, sang to her one last time, and then drew his final breath.
  
  Ever since then, Muse and Lucas remained in the same loft apartment, going about their lives together as normal after going through the grieving process. Until one day, when she was sixteen, Muse went to Central Park, closed her eyes for a brief moment, opened them, and found herself in an entirely different world—the world she knew as Wonderland.
  
  She very quickly finds herself being told by none other than the Mad Hatter himself, a boy just a year older than her named Lyall Youngblood, that she's something called the "Starlight Savior," destined to defeat the Red and Black Queens.
